The Center for the Historiography of Linguistics (CHL), created in the early nineties, is a Leuven-based research institute. The field of study undertaken by the CHL members is the history—emergence conditions, rise, evolution and diffusion—of linguistic ideas and empirical achievements from Antiquity to the present day. This website offers an overview of past and ongoing projects, and offers digital information.

The research undertaken by the members of the Center is funded by University of Leuven, the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO), Fulbright program, IWT, Volkswagenstiftung, and the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission.
